2.         Time.

            A.            Company B (-) landed 181600H.

            B.            Company A and one Platoon Company B landed 190730H.

            C.            Returned 191630H.

3.         Place.  Ky Hoa Island (BT 4714, 4814, 4914, 5014, 5013).

4.            Casualties.

            A.            Friendly.  One (1) heat casualty.

            B.            Enemy.  None confirmed.

5.         Nature of Acton.  Two Company sweep operation.

6.         Narrative.  In response to Intelligence Reports that VC units had returned to Ky Hoa Island, Company B was alerted to prepare for sweep of Island.  At 1600H, Two Platoons and Company Headquarters landed by LVT’s vicinity (BT 478138) and set in blocking position awaiting additional units the following morning.

Commencing 0730H, Company A and Platoon of Company B landed by LVT’s at (BT 477137) and linked up with two Platoons of Company B for sweep of Island eastward with Company A occupying southern half of line and Company B occupying northern half.  PF Platoon joined sweep at (BT 490128) at 1030.

Sweep continued to point at (BT 500140).  One Platoon of Company B swept north to (BT 515159) while Company A and Company B (-) swept south to (BT 517119).  Total of 62 local nationals were detained for interrogation.

At 1440H, One VCS was spotted leaving shore near (BT 505150) in boat.  Warning shots were fired and unheeded.  Boat was then taken under fire.  VCSW jumped from boat and did not appear above surface again.

Units returned by LVT’s at 1630H.
