1.         Situation.

A.                Enemy Forces.  See Current ISUMS

B.                Friendly forces.

1.                  4th Marines (-)(rein) continues defense of Chu Lai area.

2.                  3rd Bn, 12th Marines.  Provides medium and heavy artillery support as required.

3.                  1st MAW.  Provides air support as required.

C.                Attachments and Detachments.  None

D.                Assumptions.

1.                  That support requirements as planned will be provided.

2.         Mission.  Continue mission assigned in reference (b).  Conduct patrolling daily within TAOR west of Grid Line 46 and south of Highway 1.

3.         Execution.

A.                Concept of Operations.  Annex A (Operations Overlay).  Company C (-)(rein) conducts combat patrol along assigned axis of advance.  One platoon patrols from present position (BT 468068) to secure LZ for heli-lift of remainder of patrol vicinity (BT 452049).  Company (-)(rein) then conducts patrol toward ambush/blocking position (BT 432058) and (BT 431041) established by Company D (-)(rein).  Secures LZ (BT 443056) for heli-lift of platoon Company B to MLR positions.  One platoon, Company C returns to outpost (BT 468068).  Remaining platoon Company C continues patrol to (BT 432066) establishing ambushes.  Continues patrol to (BT 458092) for return to MLR by LVT.

B.                Company A (rein).

1.                  Conduct assigned patrols.

C.                Company B (rein)(-).

1.                  Conduct assigned patrols.

2.                  Company (-)(rein) harbors vicinity (BT 440055) during Operation EARL.

(a)                Establish ambush/blocking positions at (BT 432058) and (BT 431041) night of 1 August.

(b)                Hold positions as blocking force for Operation PRINCE.

(c)                Return by heli-lift 021400H from (BT 443056) to assigned MLR positions.

D.                Company C (rein).

1.                  Maintain outposts at An Tan Bridge (BT 498067) and Hill 69 (BT 469-68).

2.                  Conduct Company (-)(rein) patrol along assigned axis and advance.

(a)                Attach one (1) interpreter.

(b)               One (1) platoon conduct patrol from Hill 69 (BT 468068) to secure LZ (BT 452049) for heli-lift of remainder of patrol force.

(c)               One (1) platoon land in LZ (BT 452049).

(d)               Company (-)(rein) conducts patrol toward blocking positions established by Company B (-) vicinity (BT 432058) and (BT 431041).

(e)               Company (-)(rein) secures LZ (BT 443056) for heli-lift of Company B (-) about 021400H.

(f)                 One (1) platoon conduct patrol returning to Hill 69 (BT 468068).

(g)                Remaining platoon continues patrol along axis of advance, harbors vicinity (BT 432066) and establish ambushes.  Continues patrol along axis to (BT 458092) about 031600H for return to assigned MLR patrols.

E.                Company D (rein).

1.                  Assume Company C sector MLR night of 2 August.

2.                  Conduct assigned patrols.

F.                 1st Plt, Co. A, 1st AmTrac Bn.

1.                  Conduct assigned water borne patrol.

2.                  Provide transportation for return of one (1) platoon Company C to MLR.

G.                Coordinating Instructions.

1.                  Tentative H-Hour 020810H.  Zone to be secured by 020800H.

2.                  Preplan supporting fires along axis of advance and ---/ambush sites.

3.                  Preplan and schedule resupply.

4.                  LZ for lift to objective area Regiment LZ (BT 530089).

5.                  Submit sit reports every 30 minutes thereafter or as incident occur.

6.                  Rules of Engagement.  No change.

7.                  Short Title:  Operation PRINCE.

8.                  Operation Overlay.

4.                  Administration and Logistics.  Company B and Company C submit resupply and equipment requests to S-4 by 010900H.

5.                  Command and Communications/Electronics.  Report coordinate location ---- site/CP’s when established.
