My Frag Order #31 Follows:
1. Situation.
A. Enemy. See Current ISUMS
B. Friendly. Remains the same.
2. Mission. 1st Bn (rein), 4th Marines continue to consolidate TAOR #1 by conducting aggressive daylight and night combat patrols, establishing ambushes, conducting search and clearing operations in villages.
3. Execution.
A. Company A (rein). Assist in the defense of IMP CP. Provide 35 man working party to BSA on 31 May. Coordinate with S-1. Continue improvement of assigned sector of CP defense. Coordinate with Hqtrs Cmdt. Report to S-3 at 311600H of accomplishments concerning CP defense, improvements. Tentative plans: be prepared to be helo lifted from LZ Robin to vicinity of checkpoint 99 on 1 June. Recon platoon will select, clear and provide guidance for landing. Upon landing move south to vicinity GC 522971. Establish night defensive position. Be in position south of checkpoint 120 at –mnt on 2 June. Commence search and clear operation at first light from vicinity south of checkpoint 120 north to checkpoint 121. Be prepared to helo lift form LZ Sparrow to LZ Mynah upon completion of assigned mission.
B. Company B (rein). Provide one platoon to establish ambush vicinity GC 539989. Stage Prior to dark. Establish ambush 312000H. Secure 310500H and conduct combat patrol to battalion objective ‘N’ along designated route. Provide one platoon to conduct night combat patrol commencing 310100H in accordance with the operation overlay. Be prepared on 31 May to helo lift one platoon from LZ Wren/Wren 1 to LZ Robin to assist in CP defense and stand by for helo lift as fast reaction platoon on 1 and 2 June.
C. Company C (rein). Provide one platoon to conduct combat patrol commencing 310600H to LZ Hawk to assist in the defense of 81mm mortar platoon firing position. Helo lift one platoon commencing 310900H from LZ Robin to LZ Falcon responsibilities of Battalion objective ‘Q’.
D. Company D (rein). Provide one platoon to conduct combat patrol commencing 310800H in accordance with the operation overlay. Helo lift one platoon from LZ Hawk to LZ robin commencing 310930H to assist in IMP CP defense and provide 35 man working party on 1 June. Be prepared to helo lift company D (-) form LZ Mynah to LZ Robin on 1 June to assist in Imp CP Defense.
E. H&S Company. Continue presently assigned mission of improving CP defense and providing working parties as required. Provide one liaison officer on 31 May and 1 June to District Headquarters. Depart 1600H daily. Report to S-2 for briefing at 1430H daily. Change date of tentative plan for search and clear operation to be conducted by 106RR Platoon/Flame section from 1 June to 3 June.
F. Attached Units.
1. 1st Plat, Co B, 3d Recon Bn. Upon relief by a Company C platoon at approximately 310945H conduct recon patrol in accordance with operation overlay. In route, select and mark LZ vicinity of GS 5097 for resupply. Notify this headquarters as the location of resupply LZ, manner of marking and requested time of drop. Assume night defensive position vicinity of checkpoint 124. Be prepared on 1 June at a time to be designated to select, clear and mark LZ vicinity checkpoint 99. Provide guidance for helo lift of Company A to selected LZ. Upon relief by Company A of LZ responsibility, helo lift to LZ Robin and assist in the defense of Imp CP.
2. 1st Plat, Co B, 3d AT Bn. Assist in the defense of Imp CP. Conduct PM checks of Vehicles. Be prepared to conduct operations as assigned. Submit recommended missions to S-3 ASAP.
3. 1st Plat, Co C, 3d Tank Bn. Assist in the defense of Imp CP. Conduct PM checks of vehicles. Be prepared to conduct operations as assigned. Submit recommended missions to S-3 ASAP.
G. Coordination Instructions.
1. Same as Frag Order #30 with one addition. In paragraph (4) add: Upon request of helos for emergency evac or other emergency/priority missions, come up on barrelhouse frequency (49.6) when helos approach position.
4. Administration and Logistics. No change.
5. Command and Communications/Electronics. No change.
