Frag Order #35 (040000H – 051200H June 1965

 

1.            Situation.

A.                Enemy.  See current ISUMS.

B.                Friendly.  Remains the same.

2.         Mission.  1st Bn (rein), 4th Marines continue to consolidate TAOR #1 by conducting aggressive daylight and night patrols, establishing ambushes, conducting search and clearing operations in villages.  Be prepared to assume control of TAOR #3 on short notice in addition to TAOR #1.

3.            Execution.

A.                Company A (rein).  Continue defense of BLT objective ‘O’.  Conduct platoon size daylight combat patrol commencing 040730H, see overlay.  Conduct platoon (-) daylight patrol vicinity Hill 385 commencing 040530H.

B.                Company B (rein).  Upon relief by Company D after completion of search and clear operation of Tri Binh (1), helo lift from LZ Wren 1 to LZ Robin at approximately 041200H.  Assist in Imp CP defense.  Coordinate with Hqtrs Cmdt.  Provide 20 man working party to BSA.  Coordinate with S-1.  Provide liaison officer to District Headquarters.  Depart 041600H.  Briefing by S-3/S-2 at 041430H.  Provide one platoon for security of AT’s returning from Tri Binh (1) to Imp CP on 4 June.

C.                Company C (rein).  Continue defense of Hill 410 and conduct platoon combat patrols within 500 meters of Hill 410 and checkpoint 103.

D.                Company D (rein).  Attach 1st Plat, Co B, 3d AT Bn and heavy section Tanks attach Civil Affairs Officer, PF Guides, Pays and ARVN Interpreter.  Conduct search and clear operation of Tri Binh (1).  Select, clear and mark LZ in vicinity of Tri Binh (1).  Upon completion of search and clear operation helo lift to LZ Wren/Wren 1.  Relieve Company B in place.  Assume defensive responsibilities of  BLT objective ‘N’.  Provide one platoon to conduct combat patrol commencing 050500H in accordance with operation overlay.

E.                H&S Company.

F.                 Attached Units.

1.                  1st Plat, Co B, 3d Recon Bn.  Assist in the defense of Imp CP.  Be prepared to conduct Recon patrols and establish OP’s as directed.

2.                  1st Plat, Co B, 3d AT Bn.  Attached to Company D for search and clear Operation of Tri Binh (1).  Upon completion of mission return to and assist in the defense of Imp CP.

3.                  1st Plat, Co C, 3d TK Bn.  Assist in the defense of Imp CP.  Prepare direct fire exercise in conjunction with Imp CP defense.  Heavy section attachéd to Company D for search and clear of Tri Binh (1).

G.                Coordinating Instructions.

1.                  Units assigned the mission of Imp CP defense coordinate immediately upon arrival with Hqtrs Cmdt as to emplacement of weapons and personnel.  Request company commanders or XO and weapons platoon commander arrive.  First lift if possible to make liaison.  Do not under any circumstances change positions of weapons or personnel once assigned without approval of Hqtrs Cmdt.  Provide forty man working party and one officers daily to Hqtrs Cmdt to assist in Imp CP defense improvement.

2.                  Insure Imp CP defense maintains physical security during daylight hours.

3.                  Physically check lines, a minimum of one time between sunset and 2400 and at least twice between 2400 and sunrise.

4.                  The following chances in call signs were effective 011300H.

a.            4TH Marines – Thick Skinned

b.            1st Bn, 4th Marines – Pied Piper

c.            2nd Bn, 4th Marines – Sudden Death

d.            3rd Bn, 4th Marines – Warehouse

5.                  Operation overlay.

6.                  Instructions previously issued remain in effect.

4.            Administration and logistics.  No change.

5.            Command and Communications/Electronics.  No change.
