1.            Situation.

A.                Enemy.  See current Isums.

B.                Friendly.  No change.

2.            Mission.  1st Battalion (rein), 4th Marines (-) (rein), occupy, organize and defend assigned main line of resistance and designated outposts.  Continue previously assigned mission.

3.            Execution.

A.                Concept.  1st Battalion, (rein), 4th Marines (-) (rein), moves to assigned new sector and assumes responsibility for preparing highly organized, extensively developed defensive positions and for continuing aggressive counter-insurgent operations in the TAOR to be assigned.  Three companies, reinforced, shall initially occupy the main battle positions and immediately commence preparing hasty defenses on critical terrain.  As materials become available, they shall construct obstacles, prepare barricades, lay mines and other defensive fire fields in consonance with ground organized for defense.  The left company and left half of the inner company shall prepare their defenses in depth, but without consideration for withdrawal and/or surrender of ground.  The right side of the battalion defensive position may be prepared for forward positions being withdrawn sequentially on order to prepared consolidated unit positions on critical terrain.

One company occupies assigned outposts and provides the battalion reserve.  Prepare outposts for all around defense with overhead cover on all possible positions.  Outposts war expected to remain in place and continue to deliver fire even though by-passed.  Reserve occupies and organizes assigned blocking positions, prepares counter-attack plans and conducts counter guerrilla operations.

B.                Execution.

1.                  Company A (rein).  Helo lift from LZ’s Jaybird, Hawk, and Mynah in that order to LZ Robin at 100900H.  Assume defensive responsibilities of Pied Piper CP to include all outposts.  Be prepared to displace on order to newly assigned defensive position.  Select firing positions for light section of tanks and light section of Ontos within assigned sector.

2.                  Company B (rein).  Provide one platoon for Pied Piper CP defense.  One platoon continues to provide security for advance party.  Conduct motor march with one platoon from Pied Piper CP to newly assigned defensive position at 101030H.  One (1) heavy section of Ontos in D/5.

3.                  Company C (rein).  Commencing 100700H men all Pied Piper CP outposts until relieved in place by Company A. Conduct motor march, on order, with one platoon from present position to Hill 69 and bridge located at GC 497066 and relieve Company G in place.  Move Company C (-) by motor march at approximately 101300H/101400H to newly assigned location.  Provide one platoon to act as reserve/fast reaction force.  Provide one platoon to conduct patrolling missions as directed.

4.                  Company D (rein).  Upon relief by Company H, lift form LZ Wren ! to LZ Robin at approximately 100830H.  Conduct motor march from Pied Piper CP to newly assigned defensive sector at approximately 101030H.  Select firing positions within assigned sector for one (1) section of 81mm mortars two (2) sections of 106RR and one heavy section of tanks.

5.                  H&S Company.  Prepare plans for displacement of Pied Piper CP by echelon, on order.  Provide one (1) section of 81mm mortars and two (2) sections of 106RR indirect support of Company D.  81mm mortar platoon (-) and 106 RR platoon (-) remain in general support.  Be prepared to displace, on order.

6.                  Attached Units.

a.            Howtar Battery, 3/12.  General support.  Be prepared to displace, on order.

b.            1st Plat, Co B, 3d Recon Bn.  Be prepared to helo lift from LZ Jaybird to LZ Robin at 100900H.  Be prepared to move to new location, on order.

c.            1st Plat, Co B, 3d AT Bn.  Provide one (1) light section in direct support of Company A.  Provide one (1) heavy section in direct support of Company B.  Be prepared to move to newly assigned defensive sector, on order.

d.                  1st Plat, Co C, 3d TK Bn.  Provide one (1) light section in direct support of Company A.  Provide one (1) heavy section in support of Company D.  Be prepared to move to newly assigned defensive sector, on order.

e.                  Det, Co A, 1st Amtrac Bn.  General support.  Provide assistance in displacement of Pied Piper CP, as directed.  Conduct resupply and logistics support, as directed.

7.                  Coordinating Instructions.

a.                  Provide fire step, grenade sumps and drainage to outside in all fighting positions.

b.                  Priority of work:

1.                  Prepare hasty defense on critical terrain.

2.                  Construct tactical wire, obstacles and barricades.

3.                  Improve hasty defenses to maximum.

4.                  Camouflage is continuing priority.

c.                  Salvage all materials from all positions.  Thoroughly police all areas prior to displacement.

d.                  Operation Overlay.

4.            Administration and Logistics.  To be issued.

5.            Command and Communications/Electronics.  Prepare plans to displace Pied Piper CP by echelon to GC 527089 on 10/11 June, on order.
