OPSUM #26            Period Covered 091100H to 101100H June 1965

 

1.         General Summary of Significant Events.  The battalion continued preparing for displacement.  One plat of Company B and Comm personnel at new location.  Comm ready to receive CO’s group as of 100900H.  Recon established an ambush vicinity 487001, negative contact.  One other ambush by company B with negative results.

2.         Operational Summary.

A.                No friendly or enemy casualties reported.

B.                No weapons captured.

C.                No material captured or destroyed.

D.                General Summary.

1.                  Company A (rein).  Continued defense of Hill masses at 507997, 497996, and 512993.  Company is prepared to lift to LZ Robin at 101030H and assume defense of Bn CP rear echelon, and to be prepared on order to displace to newly assigned defensive positions.

2.                  Company B (rein).  Established an ambush at 551001 and secured at 100530H with no contact or incident.  Provided one plat for Bn CP defense and another plat for defense of CP advance party location 526094.

3.                  Company C (rein).  As of 100700H assumed all Bn CP outposts until relieved by Company A.  Company is prepared to relieve Company G on Hill 69 and Bridge located at 497066 with one plat early this PM.  One plat to act as fast reaction force.

4.                  Company D (rein).  Was relieved by a plat of Company H and lifted to LZ Robin.  Presently are moving to new sector which extend from 514051 north to 517075.  Selecting firing positions for section of 81’s, 106’s and a heavy section of tanks.

5.                  1st Plat, B Recon.  Established ambush vicinity 487001 with negative results.  Helo lifted back to Bn CP 100730 H this AM.  The plat is prepared to displace on order.

6.                  Artillery fired H&I fires during this period.  No illumination rounds expended.
