Subj:         Situation Report (141100H to 151100H)

 

1.         General Summary of Significant Events.  The Bn conducted a two company sweep of Ky Xuan Island resulting in apprehension of 16 VCS out of approximately 650 screened.  Operation was successful in gathering intelligence information on VC activities on the island.

2.         Detailed Summary.

a.                 No casualties during period.

b.                 No weapons captured.

c.                  No material destroyed.

d.                 Detailed Summary.

1.                  Co A (rein), after landing on Ky Xuan Island swept north in assigned sector searching and clearing to LZ Parrot (487117).  Helo lift back was complete at 141600H.  Company ‘assumed assigned defensive positions.

2.                  Co B (rein), after being detained at the LZ GC 487084, due to screening of numerous civilians, moved to Phase Line GINGER, and on line in conjunction with Co A searched and cleared area on right sector of island with no enemy contact and no significant incidents.  Upon arrival at LZ Parrot were helo lifted back to assigned defensive positions in Bn sector of operations.  Helo lift was completed at approximately 141515H.

3.                  Co C, continued consolidating and improving assigned defensive positions.  One squad from roadblock position, reinforced with two squads of PF’s assigned blocking position at GC 483076 for operation MR. KLEEN was secured at 141500H and returned.  Outpost at Hill 69 (469069) had no enemy contact.  This AM Co C furnished one squad to escort ARVN survey team from District Headquarters at Ly Tin to Bn area.  Platoon will act as security for survey team.

4.                  Co D, continued improving defenses in assigned area and enforcing restriction on VN civilians in purchased land area.

5.                  Recon Plat continues to recon trails and beach areas in Bn area.  Plat is preparing to displace to new location vicinity Bn CP.

6.                  Engineers continue to improve Bn CP area.

7.                  At platoon remains in General Support.

8.                  Tank Platoon remains in General Support.
