Subj:         Situation Report (151100H to 161800H)

1.         General Summary of Significant Events.  Two night squad sized patrols reported no enemy contact.  Scheduled sweep by 2^nd Bn, 4^th Marines involving one platoon from Company D was postponed.  Shower hours for Battalion started this AM.  1^st Battalion mess section commences serving ‘B’ rations 170630H.

2.         Operational Summary.

a.                 No casualties during period.

b.                 No weapons captured.

c.                  No material destroyed.

d.                 Detailed Summary.

1.                  Company A (rein), continued to improve on defensive positions.  One squad size night patrol departed from 125111.  TOD 152100H, TOR 152400H. Route followed: from 52511x to 529117 around coast line (GS 6212) and return 525111.  No enemy contact.  One squad size patrol departed 524104 at 161200H.  Route: 524104-518102-518099 returned 524104 at 161510H.  No enemy contact.  One squad size patrol departed/returned 528107.  Patrolled GS 5211 and 5111.  TOD 161300H TOR 161445H.  No enemy contact.

2.                  Company B (rein), continued to improve on defensive positions.  No enemy contact.

3.                  Company C (rein), continued to maintain defensive positions North of air field.  Maintained outposts at 498067 and 469068.  No enemy contact.

4.                  Company D (rein), continued to improve on defensive positions.  One night squad size security patrol departed 519063.  Route paralleled FEBA to 523070.  Returned to FEBA vicinity 524074.  TOD 152200H, TOR 160025H.  No enemy contact.  Popular force squad scheduled to help 1^st Platoon keep civilians out of purchased area failed to show up.  Fire team outpost located at 528098 at night.

5.                  Recon Platoon CP at 532085.  Preparing to displace to new location vicinity PP CP.

6.                  One section of 81mm mortars and FO Team displaced to Hill 69 at 161115H arrived and in position at 161330H.

7.                  Engineers continued to improve PP CP area.  Dug several holes in Company A area.

8.                  AT Platoon remains in direct support.

9.                  Tank Platoon remains in direct support.
