1. General Summary of Significant Events. Conducted 5 squad size patrols. Company D patrol at 0030 received 2 sniper rounds, one friendly WIS (slight). Lost contact. Company D received at 0810 4 sniper rounds, pursued but lost sight of 5 VCS. Battalion continued to improve on FEBA positions and mans two combat outposts.
2. Operational Summary.
a. One WIA (Slight) in arm. Bamboo splinters.
b. No weapons captured.
c. No material destroyed.
d. Detailed Summary.
1. Co A, defensive positions remain the same. Continued improving with materials available. One squad recon patrol, TOD: 220930H, TOR: 221200H, route: POD: 523104, 512105, 502104, 509108, 512106. No enemy contact.
2. Co B, continues construction of bunkers, limited wire obstacles, due to lack of stakes and generally improving all defensive positions. Squad recon patrol, TOD: 220500H, TOR: 220733H, Route: 527086, 521086, 520080, 524084, 528083. Negative contact. Squad recon, TOD: 220650H, TOR: 220840H, Route: 521095, 526099, 537104, 522098. Negative contact. Squad size recon, TOD: 220655H, TOR: 221000H, route: 523091, 522091, 520094, 516014, 517089, 519091, 522091. Negative contact.
3. Co C, upon remanning outpost on Hill 69 GC 467068, 1st Plat (rein) is consolidating old defensive positions and establishing new bunkers. One Plat (rein) at roadblock/bridge GC 497067, improving defensive positions. Remaining Plat at Co C CP, as fast reaction force.
4. Co D, Squad security patrol in route after midnight received 2 sniper rounds at 523058, pursued but lost contact. One WIA sent to 2d Bn BAS TOR: 220130H. Second patrol cancelled when 1st Plat received 4 sniper rounds from 518065. One squad sent in pursuit of 5 VCS sighted moving away from direction of rounds. Two helo’s with one squad embarked pursued from air. No sightings. 2d plat from Hill positions 524074 twice sighted VCS. Two different sightings were one VC carrying a rifle, vicinity An Tay (2) 524077.
5. Recon plat has one team and interpreter with SDC plat ambush vicinity v516095. Bn Scouts with Plat of PF established ambush vicinity 519101. Ambushes secured at midnight. No enemy contact.
6. Ontos Plat departed Bn CP area 220800H for recon patrol via MSR and Highway 1. Two possible Ontos firing positions on Hill 69, not recommended except for brief missions. Returned via Highway 1 and MSR.
