OPSUM #21            Period Covered 041100H to 051100H June 1965

 

1.         Operations.

A.                Co A, is in the defense of Hill 237 with one platoon vicinity Hill 385.  The company has one combat patrol of platoon size patrolling to the south of Hill 237 approximately 2500 meters.  Presently located GC 510961.

B.                Co B, is consolidating defensive positions around the Bn CP.  Providing working parties to BSA and an officer to district headquarters for liaison.

C.                Co C, continued the defense of Hill 410.  Conducted patrols up to 500 meters around positions with negative contact.

D.                Co D, relieved Co B on Hill 213.  Conducting one platoon size patrol 1000 meters west and 1000 meters north of company positions.  Presently located at GC 522010.

E.                Recon Platoon, established an observation post at 042030H at GC 549988 and are maintaining same until 051200H.

F.                 Artillery and 81mm mortar platoon fired H&I fires throughout the night.  No illumination expended.  81’s are currently displacing to Bn CP.  Platoon of Howtars attached this date.

G.                Plans are underway for a two company (-) search and clear operation of Tri Binh (1) GC 555987 at first light 6 June.  One platoon of PATS plus Police Chief, CIT and Interpreters will be utilized.

3.         Logistics.  Shortages in 782 gear and night firing devices for 81mm mortars.
