OPSUM #25            Period Covered 081100H to 091100H June 1965

 

1.         General Summary of Significant Events.  Battalion continued preparing for CP displacement.  One platoon and three squad size night ambushes were established.  Company B turned over to male civilians without proper identification to battalion.  They were in turn turned in to the regimental collection point.

2.         Operations Summary.

A.                No friendly or enemy casualties reported.

B.                No weapons captured.

C.                No material captured or destroyed.

D.                General Summary.

1.                  Company A (rein).  Continued in defense of Hill masses at 507997, 497996, and 512993.  Company CP remains at 512993.

2.                  Company B (rein).  1st platoon and Company CP located at 518022.  Established two squad size night ambushes,  2d plat in defense of Bn CP.  Conducted reconnaissance to GC 5500 and returned, no enemy contact.  3d platoon located at 548013.  Established one squad size night ambush.  2d plat accompanied advanced echelon Bn CP displacement to vic new CP location GS 5209.

3.                  Company C (rein).  Continued in defense of Bn CP.  One squad (rein) participated in regimental controlled sweep as blocking force.  Sighted two VCS but could not apprehend.  3d platoon participated in a hastily prepared joint operation with PATS to capture 9 VC reported at house in 5497, negative contact.

4.                  Company C (rein).  Continued in defense of Hill 213 at 532004.  One patrol out which established night ambush at 544988 and returned first light.  No enemy contact.

5.                  1st Plat, B Recon.  Continued in defense of Bn CP with one LP out just south of Bn CP.  Presently assisting in security for Medcap team working at village vicinity 555986.

6.                  No illumination expended.
