Civil Affairs/Psychological Warfare

Civil Affairs for this reporting period consisted of two solarium payments and two civilian med-evacs.  The solarium payments were made as a result of friendly artillery fire, which killed six civilians and destroyed one home.  A total of 2400 $VN were paid to two individuals in an effort to express our sympathy at their losses.  The med-evacs came when our troops located two civilians on different occasions who had suffered serious wounds, cause unknown.  Both taken to Quang Tri via helicopter for treatment.  Also Medcap supplies were requested for our medcap programs with a small number of supplies coming through.  More Civil Affairs were curtailed because of combat operations.

In the field of Psychological Warfare the main effort was in leaflet drops used to exploit our victory at Con Thien.  The main theme in these drops were for Chien Hoi, rewards for NVA equipment, and warning civilians not to aid the VC, and to show our complete victory, over the NVA who attacked Con Thien.
